Why ?

Kinja'd!!!

To make you feel like a professional bartender(not) , that’s why.

It may be more expensive than regular Coke, but bars are closed so there’s that.

No cocaine in them at all?

I’m so sick of all this faux-retro trendiness.

We actually just finished these yesterday. The herbal, woody and spicy are alright, the smoky not so much. Then again, I drank them without any booze.

Technically, Bulleit is a bourbon. I’d mix the base one with these. But I tend to drink any decent bourbon straight.

Makers Mark is my go-to, though I’ve got a half dozen different bourbons (and just as many Irish whiskeys) around.

I like it cold, so an ice cube goes in it, and if I’m feeling frisky I make a strong Old Fashioned, but that’s mostly bourbon, too.

Well, economy’s uncertain because of the virus. I’m working from home now, but until things clear up, my company made us   work only 4 hours a day(with half pay, obviously) for a month or two, so it could keep all the employees. I’m not going to go bankrupt anytime soon, as my earnings were quite good in the last few years, but I’m staying away from top shelf booze for now, especially since I have more time to drink.

€15-€20 bottles are gonna get mixed.

I hear mixing coke with red wine is pretty popular in the EU.

Also I feel it my duty to note we cannot be more than a single post away from this being a theme day.

Unfortunately not. Apparently it's illegal. :(

It's not. Unless you're a college student and get your hands on a lot cheap, low quality wine.

We’ve had them a couple of years now. They are okay, different is as best way to describe it.

I tried them all with vodka, Scotch whisky and Irish whiskey.

It actually is. Theres a name for it (in our country anyways), ‘bambus’, but I know it popular among more European cultures and carries different names.

Ps: not only college students do it.

I wouldn't mix Coca cola with anything...not even my own saliva.

I mainly came to be aware of it because it is so popular to bring large containers of it to public gatherings in the heat of Summer.

I tread carefully asking if that is a chav drink on par with thugs drinking gin n’ juice or more in line with finery and enjoying killing the shit out of some horses from a box?

That is probably the case in some areas.  It appears my idea of it as an everyman’s comfort drink on holiday doesn’t appear off too far though.

It’s a common base with a fruit juice, sorbet, etc... added to it in a Martini glass, etc... your talking nine parts wine with one part vodka, plus a flavouring.

But drank about equal wine and vodka is a common cause of alcohol poisoning in Russia.

My go to is either Elijah Craig or Old Forrester (of any kind). I think i have a half dozen whiskeys at the moment, although that includes Jack Daniels and Canadian Club for mixers. I drink bourbon on the rocks, specifically 2-3 cubes.

My wife and I like old Fashioneds, but since we’re in Wisconsin, brandy is the only way.

Oh, I joke around because that’s how I deal with stress. Luckily, I had a decent stash already before things shut down, which is good because I do prefer bourbon with just a bit of ice.

I’m also very lucky that I’m still working - I can work from home, and being in finance with a leveraged company, I’m busier than ever.

I’ll have to restock eventually, and it will be with the cheapest stuff I can find that’s drinkable on its own.

Take care and stay healthy!

We drink bourbon the same way. Haven’t had Old Forrester, it’s pretty good then?

Funny about old fashioneds- my mom and her husband are in Brookfield, WI and love them. When I'm up there,  me and her husband drink them with bourbon, and he makes brandy old fashioneds for the ladies.  Their biggest beef is that every bartender up there wants to add Sprite or 7up to the drink - we all prefer them the original way, without it.

Thats the wisconsin way, with a backer. Incidentally, its how i prefer them too. It converts it from a classy drink (a la martini) into a comfort drink, like you’d drink in a rural bar or wood-paneled basement.

I’d recommend all of the Old Forrester offerings. Even the base level bourbon, which is under $30, is good on the rocks. The single barrel is great, and the “year” bottles (1870, 1910, 1920) are fantastic.
